CONDITION:
The book shows mild signs of age, use wear. The green cloth binding is good, some mild rubbing of the extremities and a little faded. Head and tail of spine a little bumped. Attractive gilt and cream stamped decoration of The Haunted House and title on front board. Gilt a little rubbed in parts but generally remains bright. Gilt title on spine bright, tiny ink stain just above 'Haunted'. Hinges/joints strong, sturdy with no splitting. End papers and paste downs a little age toned with mild foxing. Ink inscription "Amy. K. Squire" on front first blank end paper, no further inscriptions, highlighting or notes. Overall the text block is bright, a little toned, mild foxing dotted about, but very good considering age. No loose or missing pages, binding tight. Page edges gold gilded, a little scuffed/scratched but remains bright.
Overall a nice example of this scarce first edition in book form, described as "a masterpiece of it's kind" by Edgar Allan Poe.
