Jerusalem Olive Wood Binding. Sold in Jerusalem to Christian Pilgrim's as a keepsake for their journey, with Olive Wood from the Holy Land. 

CONDITION:

Some clear signs of age, use and wear. The Olive Wood boards show significant scuffing and scratches. Front board has lacquered sealed strips of a mosiac pattern around the edges. Rear board has faded Jerusalem title. Both boards are mounted to brass edging, with clasp. Clasp still in good working order, although the hinge has slightly shifted and a little loose. Brass has age related patina. Black leather spine with gilt title. A small circular section of loss of surface leather, affecting the gilt title of Testament.

Yellow end papers at the rear,  with ink inscription on pastedown "Forget me not, Think of me when far away." Front board flyleaf is stuck or glued down over the yellow pastedown, opening immediately to the title page. Text block is in good reading condition, age related toning throughout, mild foxing also present, mostly affecting the first and last few pages. Minor page creasing from use. All text legible, no further inscriptions, highlighting, underlining or notes. All edges gilt, some fading, scuffing and scratches from handling.

Overall the book remains in acceptable reading condition, clear signs of age and use, view all photographs for the best understanding of condition.

The book measures 7.5cm x 11.5cm
