NEW COMICAL NURSERY RHYMES AND FUNNY STORIES.
Published by Ward, Lock, and Tyler. No print year present, however they traded under this name during 1862-1873. The book can be dated during this period, from 1873 they became Ward Lock and Bowden Ltd.

Containing 70 humorous rhymes and stories, and 45 illustrations (Lacking pg.62 Illustration).

The book measures 14.5cm x 17.5cm.

There are various signs of age, use and wear. The cloth cover is discoloured, spine sunned, corners bumped and edges worn. Spine has some chipped loss at both head and tail. Spots of wear/staining dotted across the boards. Gilt title and decoration on front board remains generally bright, although dulled/faded in parts. Cloth binding has a moire effect texture.

Binding is good, boards hinges holding well. Gutters not splitting. Yellow end pages and paste downs a little discoloured. Foxing prevalent across the first and last few end pages, which gradually reduces throughout contents. Evidence/remnants of erased pencil writing/scribbling on first and last blank end paper. Followed by numerous pencil doodles and markings throughout, mostly whimsical additions to a few illustrations. Contents in good reading condition, pages a little toned and foxed. Page edges coloured red, faded and darkened in parts.

Overall the book remains in acceptable reading condition. Please note it is lacking page 62 illustration, however remaining contents are complete. An entertaining and scarce compilation.
